Foster's Girls Soccer Capsules - Class B

YORK
Outlook: The Class B South Wildcats will take a 54-game win streak into Thursday’s season opener against Class C South foe North Yarmouth Academy. ... York has won three straight Class B state championships, and has advanced to the state title game in eight of the last nine years. ... “We’re working through some things,” Marois said. “We’re always trying to challenge the girls to play at a certain level and I think they like that challenge; that’s what we’re all working towards together.” ... Lilla Reinertson, a freshman and younger sister of sophomore Cassie, is a player to watch. “I really think she can step in and do anything,” Marois said.

Humphrey begins final season at York before heading to Vermont

...Three years later, York head coach Wally Caldwell calls Humphrey one of the hardest working players he has had in his 23 years.

One thing Humphrey doesn’t have to worry about as the Wildcats start their Class B South season on Friday at Greely is where she will be playing for the next four years.

Humphrey, shortly after the end of last season, gave a verbal commitment to play at the University of Vermont, a Division I program in the America East Conference.

“I loved the campus, loved the environment around it and all the coaches were extremely nice and supportive,” said Humphrey before Monday’s practice. ” I met some of the girls on the team and they all had good things to say about the school, the team and the environment.”

The Times Record Girl's Soccer previews: Class B teams

Morse
Over the last several years, the Shipbuilders have run off solid regular seasons and typically earned a win in the postseason. But residing in Class B South, Morse often runs into a Western Maine Conference team, typically Cape Elizabeth, the team that ousted the 13-3 Shipbuilders last year with a 3-0 quarterfinal win.

Freeport
The Falcons went 7-5-2 last season and defeated Maranacook in a Class B South prelim before falling to Greely in the quarters. Coach Elayna Girardin returns a solid group of players this year

Oceanside has new coach, solid talent throughout roster

Outlook: The Mariners lost five talented starters from last year’s team — in addition to coach Darryl Townsend — who stepped down after amassing more than 250 victories.

However, Townsend did not leave the cupboards bare for coach Dorr, as a wealth of talented athletes — and an influx of new players — will be on display this season for Oceanside.

Coach Dorr said while Pine, Simmons and Straka will be the anchors of the team — with Simmons leading the defense and Pine and Straka up top at forward — Veilleux will be a focal point for most defenses this season at center half
