Lanpher wins PASS 300 at Beech Ridge

...“This is our home track, and it's the biggest race of the year in length,” Lanpher said in Victory Lane. “I just can't believe it; I'm on cloud nine right now after last week. To back it up with another win today is amazing.

“Building a good car is definitely an important part of this game. Car builder Jeff Taylor, my crew chief Jason Ricker and all the guys have a lot of hours into this thing. I owe a huge thanks to them and all of our partners. I couldn't do this without my family and the support of so many people.”

Doiron back on top at The Ridge

Berwick native Joey Doiron has won major short track races around the Northeast for years. The veteran of PASS North competition won the inaugural PASS race at Thunder Road, and is always strong at Beech Ridge, no matter the race distance.

Doiron edged Manchester's Reid Lanpher by a mere .013 seconds on Saturday night to claim the Pro Series feature in weekly NASCAR All-American Series action.

Lanpher continues hot streak at The Ridge

Ever since Manchester's Reid Lanpher and crew chief Jason Rocker of Poland hit the track with their new Super Late Model in late April, things have really gone their way.

First, it was back-to-back wins on the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North circuit at Oxford and Beech Ridge, then it was weekly checkered flags at both Oxford and the Ridge as weekly racing began.

The 19-tear-old phenom added another impressive win on Saturday, beating Garrett Hall to the stripe by a mere .390 seconds to claim the Pro Series 125. Reigning class champion Curt Gerry led the first half until a broken track bar ended his run. Lanpher is the track's first repeat winner of 2017.

Reid Lanpher in charge at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
2015 track champion has two wins already this season at Scarborough track.

...Lanpher, of Manchester, holds a 15-point lead over reigning track champion Curt Gerry. Coupled with two Pro All Stars Series (PASS) wins earlier in the season, it’s been a better start than even the 18-year-old Lanpher could have imagined when he debuted a brand new Super Late Model from Distance Racing this spring.

“This has just blown away our expectations for this year. I’ve been surprised myself, honestly,” Lanpher said. “The guys just keep giving me a really good car and, knock on wood, we’ve been able to stay fast.”

After winning his first Pro Series title at Beech Ridge when he was just 16 years old back in 2015, Lanpher came up just 10 points shy of Gerry in the championship chase last season. It’s shaping up as a three-way battle between Lanpher, Gerry and two-time Beech Ridge champion (and the winningest driver in Oxford Plains Speedway history) Mike Rowe this season in Scarborough.

Racing Roundup: Polewarczyk wins PASS 150 at The Ridge

...Joey Polewarczyk Jr., of Hudson, New Hampshire, outgunned reigning Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion Ben Rowe of Turner on a pair of late-race restarts to claim victory in the PASS 150 Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough.

Polewarczyk took command on a lap-105 restart before fending off the challenges of 2016 Beech Ridge track champion Curtis Gerry of Waterboro and Hermon's Mike Hopkins to seal the deal.

For Polewarczyk, it was the season's first win after notching three victories on the PASS North trail in 2016. It ended a streak of rare mechanical gremlins that prevented him from finishing four races he led.

Auto racing notes: Ben Rowe turns the corner at Beech Ridge
Turner driver finally has something to smile about this season after a top five in the PASS 150.

SCARBOROUGH — The only person with a smile wider than the one on Ben Rowe’s face following the Pro All Stars Series 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday was race winner Joey Polewarczyk.

While Polewarczyk, of Hudson, New Hampshire, exorcised some of his own early season demons with the victory, Rowe couldn’t help but feel as though he himself had won the race.

“This is a win for me, a top five at Beech Ridge,” Rowe said after finishing fourth. “We even led 100 laps. I’m happy.”

Recap: Bubar bags a win at The Ridge

Second generation driver Corey Bubar powered his way to victory in Saturday night's 40-lap NASCAR Pro Series feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Bubar held off Manchester's Reid Lanpher to earn his first win of 2017, while Garrett Hall filled out the podium in third.

Jacob Dore put in another solid finish to cross the strip in fourth, while defending Pro Series champion Curtis Gerry of Waterboro completed the top five. Lanpher appears headed to his second points title in 2017, yet there is still a lot of racing left to do before the final checkered flag waves in Scarborough.

Terry Merrill prevailed in a hotly-contested feature for Sport Series competitors. The driver from Saco held off a hard-charging Clyde Hennessey of Windham for top honors, while Beech Ridge veteran Richard Pelton filled out the podium in third. Matt Dow and Sally Gherardi rounded out the top five.
