Scarborough driver wins rain-plagued PASS Super Late Model race

Twenty-one-year-old Garrett Hall of Scarborough became the first multi-race winner on the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model North tour on Sunday as he maneuvered his way to the front from a sixth-row starting position in a rain-plagued 150-lapper at Speedway 95 in Hermon Sunday.

The race kicked off Speedway 95’s 50th anniversary season.

Hall had never seen the track prior to Sunday’s event but, after several rain delays interrupted practice sessions and qualifying races, he wasted little time making his way through the field.

Brooks driver captures 1st win at Speedway 95
By Larry Mahoney on June 26, 2016, at 10:42 a.m.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet. A cold beer will help it sink in,” Dean Clements said.

HERMON. Maine — Dean Clements of Brooks had never won a feature in his three years of racing at Hermon’s Speedway 95 so when he finally did win Saturday night, it made sense that he would crank out more doughnuts than a Tim Horton’s.

Celebratory doughnuts are the circular burnouts race winners perform after winning a race.

Clements did one on the front stretch and another on the back stretch in front of 785 fans in the grandstands after holding off Prospect’s D.J. Moody and Sullivan’s Asa Jones in a close finish that saw all three cars within one car-length of each other as they took the checkered flag in the Street class.
