Winterport driver captures Outlaw Super Series race at 95

HERMON, Maine — Joey Doyon of Winterport captured victory in the visiting Outlaw Super Series Saturday night at Speedway 95.

Ricky Burgess seemed to have the car to beat after taking the lead at lap 10, and holding on tightly until lap 36 when mechanical issues occurred and the caution flag took him out of contention for the win.

Kris Watson of Hermon, looking to extend his season-long streak, worked his way up the field from near the rear at the start to second place when the caution flag flew at lap 42, but he could not overtake Doyon.

Watson finished in second, Kris Matchett of Skowhegan was third, Dale Swoboda of Hermon was fourth and Michael Overlock of Franklin was fifth.

The Wicked Good Vintage Racecar Association had two feature races, the first had just a single caution with Keith Smalley taking the win, and the second feature suffered from five cautions with Tim Reynolds earning the top spot.

Bradley driver holds on for Late Model win at Speedway 95

HERMON, Maine — Dean Smart of Bradley became the Dysart’s Late Model division’s second two-time winner this season as he won the hotly contested 40-lap main event Saturday night at Speedway 95.

Smart led from lap 2, most of the time by mere inches, as the top four ran side by side and nose to tail for the entire 40 laps.

Brenton Parritt of Steuben ran the inside groove beside Smart for most of the race, but on lap 35, John Curtis Jr. of Hermon tried to make it three wide on the front stretch, and made contact with Parritt, sending both cars spinning off the track and having to make quick repairs in the pits. Both returned to the track before the restart and remained on the lead lap
