Fort Kent driver wins Daytona debut in ARCA tour race

... It was special. Daytona is special,” said Theriault on Monday. “(Crew chief Donnie Richeson) has been trying to get to Victory Lane at Daytona for a long time. It finally worked out for him.”

Richeson has helped produce several wins for KSR during his 15 years but he had never won at Daytona.

The fact the race was halted early didn’t dampen Theriault’s enthusiasm.

“A win is a win. Not many people can say they’ve won at Daytona,” said Theriault. “It’s a good feeling.” ... tour-race/

Austin Theriault Survives Tough ARCA Race at Nashville Speedway

Unfortunately neither my brother or I have MAVTV and were unable to watch the ARCA race from Nashville Speedway last Saturday night. I followed it on the ARCA live timing and scoring page on the internet. The only comments I could see were from individuals who were posting on the ARCA site at the track or watching it live on MAVTV.

From comments during the race, it appears that most of the 11 caution periods were a result of contact, either deliberate or not so deliberate. Temper seemed to flare as the race progressed.

The multiple cautions appeared to put Austin Theriault at a disadvantage since the restarts found him on the outside when the preferred line was inside or inside when the outside line moved faster.

Fort Kent driver to help Auburn racer at Saturday PASS event

Austin Theriault, who leads the ARCA points standings after two races, will take on a new role on Saturday.

The Fort Kent driver will serve as adviser and crew chief for Auburn’s Travis Stearns at the 12th Easter Bunny 150 Pro All-Stars Series National Championship race at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

“I’ve known him for four or five years. We used to compete against each other but now we work together every once in awhile. He’s a good driver and I want to help him,” said Theriault. “It’s going to be a competitive field with drivers from the north and the south. It’s one of the biggest [PASS] races of the season ... ass-event/

Theriault Places Fifth and Maintains Point Battle Lead

Theriault Finishes in Top Five at Salem Speedway & Maintains Points Lead

Austin Theriault expressed disappointment with a fifth place effort yet at the same time realized that a top five finish on a track new to him isn’t that bad. Theriault went into the pits in the later stage of the race under green. One thing you do not want to happen is for the caution flag to fly when you have just completed your stop under green.

ARCA crew chief impressed with Fort Kent driver

...Donnie Richeson, the competition director for Ken Schrader Racing Inc. and crew chief for Fort Kent’s Austin Theriault in the ARCA series, used to work with Kulwicki and said there are a lot of similarities between Kulwicki and the 23-year-old Theriault.

“Austin reminds me so much of him. He’s like a mirror image of him,” said the 56-year-old Richeson on Wednesday.

Theriault and Richeson lead the points in the ARCA series heading into a stretch of four races in 20 days beginning with the Shore Lunch 250 at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota, at 9 p.m. Saturday. ... nt-driver/

Fort Kent racer pulls off memorable victory — by .029 seconds

...Theriault then went to the inside to take the lead and the duel continued.

As they raced on the final lap of the 3/8-mile oval, Eckes made a last-ditch move to the inside in the final turn but Theriault was able to hold him off.

“I was never able to complete the pass on the outside because he kept running me up the track,” explained Theriault. “So I moved to the bottom and gave him a little nudge [to take the lead]. On the last lap, he nudged me in the last corner and got under me but it wasn’t enough.”

He said they raced each other aggressively but clean for the most part.

“It was an equal finish. He took steps to make sure I didn’t win and I took steps to make sure he didn’t win,” said Theriault. ... 9-seconds/
