Kittery Point teen picked for USA Hockey’s U-15 National Development Camp

KITTERY POINT, Maine — Rory McPherson got the news in her dorm room at Governor’s Academy last month, more proof that her hockey career is headed in a special direction.

McPherson, 15, was selected to attend USA Hockey’s U-15 National Development Camp this summer in Minnesota. After going through a three-stage tryout process that began last November, it was news she had been hoping for a day earlier.

But it was great news, regardless.

“I remember I started crying,” she said. “They told me I’d be getting the news the day before (if I made the camp). Learning I’d made the team made me so, so happy. It’s definitely a big highlight of my life.”
