York/Traip Academy advances
The Wildcats reach the South semifinals by defeating Cheverus/Kennebunk/Old Orchard Beach, 2-1.

... Lamontagne broke in with teammate Caitlin Wolff with seven minutes remaining in the second period. Stephens stopped the shot from close in, and then the ensuing shot by Abby Enck from the point.

“We had glorious opportunities,” Cheverus Coach Scott Rousseau said. “We’re a young team and a little inexperienced, and they are an older team with a terrific goaltender who made some great saves.

“It’s not like we weren’t getting scoring chances; we just couldn’t finish.”

Brunswick holds off Winslow/Gardiner to reach North semifinals
Jenna Brooks scores a hat trick to help the Dragons to a 5-3 win.

... The Black Tigers made things interesting with a pair of third-period goals, but their first season as a cooperative team ended with a 10-9 record.

“I think because it was playoffs, we were all pumped up and we knew the importance of this game,” said Brooks, who scored all four Brunswick goals in the regular-season loss at the Ice Vault.

The Dragons advance to play undefeated top seed St. Dominic on Saturday.

Frohlich's big night propels the Red Hornets to the regional semifinals

... "I knew this is one of the games I knew that mattered," Frohlich said. "It was a one-and-done situation so if I didn’t go out there and put the work in, put that 100 percent effort in, it's my senior year I would have been done. I went out there and gave a 110-percent effort."

It was the Clippers (7-12-0) who came out strong, and their defense didn't allow a shot the first six minutes of the contest.

"The difference was their shots started to go in and ours didn't," Clippers coach Megan Vaughan said. "We couldn't put the puck past the goalie today. (Maranda Guimond) did a very good job."
