In blustery battle of unbeatens, Windjammers too steady for Panthers
Anderson nails down medalist honors for fourth straight match to start campaign

ROCKPORT — When Camden Hills and Medomak Valley high school student-athletes stepped onto the first tee at the cool, blustery, wind-swept Samoset Resort Golf Course on Friday afternoon, Sept. 1 in an early-season battle between unbeaten Midcoast Class B athletic rivals, they must have thought they were about to play the Maine-version of the British Open.

As one Panther said as he navigated shots through and with the stiff wind around the first green, "It feels like we are playing in a PGA tournament."

But, the young golfers stood in the face of adversity, faced the daunting task and, for the most part, persevered in tough, challenging conditions on a course with ever-present trouble left, right and straight ahead.
