Yarmouth rides offensive surge to win over Waynflete

YARMOUTH—Yarmouth’s girls’ lacrosse team is just beginning to hit its stride.

And the Clippers are already looking like a team that will be very hard to beat in June.

Because they’ve been unstoppable so far in April.

Friday afternoon, Yarmouth welcomed perennial contender and rival Waynflete in an early season showdown of unbeatens and after a slow start, the Clippers’ experience and offensive balance proved to be too much.

Yarmouth cools off red-hot Rangers to stay perfect

...YARMOUTH—Nothing has slowed the Yarmouth girls’ lacrosse team this spring and a little wet weather and the prospect of a coach having to match wits with a squad that included her daughter wasn’t going to knock the Clippers from the ranks of the unbeaten Monday night.

Yarmouth welcomed dangerous Greely to its turf field and despite a steady rainfall, the Clippers were able to gradually pull away to yet another victory.

Rangers sophomore goalie Mollie McDonald held potent Yarmouth at bay early and Greely, which has already upset Waynflete and York this season, scored first, on a free position goal from junior Courtney Sullivan.

Yarmouth girls stay undefeated, deliver some rainy revenge at Kennebunk

KENNEBUNK—Yarmouth’s girls’ lacrosse program has produced some special teams over the years.

The 2017 version is on track to not only be the latest in a long line of champions, but this group of Clippers could be a team for the ages before all is said and done.

Yarmouth lost to Kennebunk in last year’s state final, a setback that prevented the Clippers from a first ever three-peat, and this spring, an experienced squad has returned hungrier than ever and is well on the road to capturing another trophy.

Yarmouth girls finish undefeated by rallying past Falmouth in a thriller

FALMOUTH—Falmouth’s girls’ lacrosse team played its best game of the season Friday afternoon in its home finale, but the Yachtsmen still weren’t able to knock the powerhouse Yarmouth Clippers from the ranks of the unbeaten.

In an instant classic that potentially sets the stage for an even bigger showdown in two weeks time, the Clippers shot to an early lead, but Falmouth roared back and appeared destined for victory before Yarmouth rallied late to close its season in style.

The Yachtsmen flustered the Clippers early thanks to multiple saves from senior goalie Mary Budri, then went ahead, 1-0, when senior Sydney Bell scored 10 minutes in.

Yarmouth edges Falmouth, stays perfect
The Clippers complete an undefeated regular season with a 9-8 win.

... It took a solid effort from each player Friday for the unbeaten Clippers pull out a 9-8 win against Falmouth in the regular-season finale for both teams.

“Today we truly showed we are 21 strong,” said Elia Antolini, who scored the tiebreaking goal with four minutes left. “We had injuries. We had people who momentarily lost their composure, and every single individual on our team was ready to step up and was ready to come into the game composed and ready to play.”

Yarmouth (12-0) will go into the Class B North playoffs as the top seed. The Clippers have won four straight regional titles.
