Freeport – The Maine Women's Lacrosse Officials Association (MWLOA) is seeking adult and teenage individuals who are interested in officiating girls’ lacrosse for the 2019 season and beyond. All officials are certified through the auspices of US Lacrosse. Approximately 75 members officiate all levels of girls' lacrosse in Maine: high school varsity and junior varsity games, middle school, and recreational program teams.
Upcoming classes include:

· Thornton Academy in Saco. Monday nights on March 11, 18 and 25 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

· Falmouth High School. Thursday nights on March 14, 21 and 28 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

· Husson University in Bangor. First session on Saturday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Second session TBA.

· Thomas College in Waterville. First session on Saturday, March 23 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Second session TBA.

Cost is $25 and includes a rulebook, handouts, and first year dues and is payable at the first class. Scholarships are available. Required tests will be reviewed during the last class session - open book. All officials must also belong to US Lacrosse and all adults must pass the Maine Department of Education CHRC background check.

Lacrosse is also a fast sport and as such officials need to be in reasonably good physical condition and be capable of running up and down the field for long periods of time. Officials at all levels are expected to be able to keep up with the play. Most game assignments are in the form of double headers.
For more information, go to ... re-classes or contact MWLOA president Sue Perkins at 841-9527.
If you are a teen/player or parent interested in officiating rec and youth games, please go the MWLOA Junior Officials page.
