Out-of-state trips often are viewed as a stage to perform in front of college coaches and scouts, but Melchionda had already made his college choice. He verbally committed to Boston College the summer before his senior season at Thayer Academy, and used his time in Georgia to improve his skills.
QUINCY — It was a standout year for girls lacrosse on the South Shore, with 12 local teams advancing to post-season play. Pembroke High School’s second-year program made its tournament debut, while Hull High followed suit in only its first season.
BUCKSPORT — Deidre Davis, who founded the Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball program more than a decade ago, is the new girls’ varsity basketball coach at Bucksport High School.
